Noise Exposure Effect on Selective Inflammatory Markers of Wistar Albino Rats Immune Organs and Role of Scoparia dulcis

Noise has detrimental effect on health. The negative consequences on health may differ according to the individual intensity and perception. Environmental influence on the inflammatory as well as immune pathways is associated with chronic inflammation, tissue damage and finally leads to disease. The aim of this study to investigate the noise exposure influence on HSP-70, NF-κb and TNF-α, that plays a major role in immune responses and inflammation as well. Animals, when exposed to 100 dBA broadband noise for 15 days/4 hours/day showed a significant increase in HSP-70, NF-κb and TNF-α expression in spleen, thymus and lymph node, in addition with the impaired antioxidant status. However, DNA smearing was observed only in spleen alone. The alteration in HSP-70, NF-κb and TNF-α expression with increased LPO, NO and GPX and decreased antioxidants after noise exposure explains the inflammatory markers influence on immune organ impairment. The noise induced changes in immune organ inflammation and dysfunction were attenuated, when treated with aqueous extract of S. dulcis orally (200 mg/kg.bw). In conclusion, S. dulcis demonstrate the efficacy of preventing the free radicals induced inflammatory changes associated with the immunomodulatory activity.
