This article reviews the safety issues related to aspartame use. The Food and Drug Administration has established the acceptable daily intake of aspartame at 50 mg per kilogram of body weight. A table is provided which can be used to assess the aspartame intake for children based on the number of aspartame sweetened beverages and food products consumed daily.
