Efficiency of Legume Residue Nitrogen and Inorganic Nitrogen in Corn Production
1961
Sutherland, W. N. | Shrader, W. D. | Pesek, J. T.
SynopsisEstimates of the amount of N supplied by legumes in a corn-oats-meadow rotation on Edina silt loam ranged from 123 to 200 pounds per acre in 1957 and from 54 to 83 pounds in 1958. The beneficial effect of the meadow crop was due primarily to N. Analyses of soil carbon indicated that carbon levels increased during the 1953–58 period on the highly fertilized continuous corn plots and rotation plots but not on the unfertilized continuous corn plots.
