Highly fluorescent core–shell hybrid nanoparticles were readily fabricated from the soft template of a unimolecular star conjugated polymer (HCP-star-PDMAEMA). Since the hyperbranched conjugated polymer (HCP) core was isolated by a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) shell, HCP@SiO₂ with excellent optical properties was retained in the aqueous solution for potential application in biological imaging.
