Graft compatibility study of 'Montizo' and 'Monpol' pollizo plum as a rootstock for almond

'Montizo' and 'Monpol' are two rootstocks selected from a "pollizo" (P. insititia L.) population sent from Murcia to the SIA. In preliminary trials both rootstocks have proved to be compatible with almond, and this aspect has been confirmed. Also in this experiment the compatibility is excellent, and the rootstocks show a good performance as evidenced by the good results obtained in chlorophyll content, plant water status and mineral content of the leaves. There is a large variability in results between the different scion/rootstock combinations that needs more research to be elucidated.
