Evaluation of a bio-fungicide (Beauveria bassiana 1.15 WP) against bollworm complex in Cotton

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the bio-efficacy and phytotoxicity of entomopathogenic fungi, larvocel (Beauveria bassiana 1.15 WP) compared with market sample of B. bassiana, Bacillus thuriengensis (Biolep) and profenophos 50 EC. Among the four (1.5, 2.0, 2.5, & 4kg/ha) doses of larvocel (B. bassiana 1.15 WP), market sample biolep (B. bassiana & B. thuriengensis) and profenophos 50 WP was found less effective; Larvocel 4.0 kg/ha was proved to be most effective treatment in reducing damage caused by cotton bollworm on squares, bolls and loculi, when compared with their lower doses. The insecticide evaluated did not show any phytotoxic effect at any doses of larvocel on cotton crop and at the same time, it was found to be relatively safe to two types of natural enemies against bollworm on cotton.
