1978
Worthington, Bonnie S.
A sensible approach to nutrition and reproduction includes nutritional preparation of the woman for conception and nutritional support of the mother during pregnancy and lactation. Discussion relating to pregnancy is focused on weight and calorie needs, nutrient needs, and the use of alcohol and caffeine. Problems such as nausea and vomiting, heartburn, constipation, toxemia, diabetes, and heart disease are examined. Caloric needs and other nutritional considerations during lactation are covered, as well as an assessment of the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women.
