Influence of herbicides on physiological characters of turmeric

Weed free check and pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. per ha had higher weed control efficiency. Higher values of LAI, LAD, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, number of stomata in weed free check and pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. per ha increased the rhizome yield as against un-weeded control. Among the herbicides pre emergence application of pendimethalin @1.5 kg a.i. ha⁻¹ and 1.0 kg a.i. ha⁻¹ were found beneficial.
