Unrecognized cobalamin-responsive neuropsychiatric disorders
1989
This brief review discusses the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of cobalamin deficiency. Neurological disorders due to cobalamin deficiency may occur in the absence of anemia. The reliability of the usual laboratory tests for diagnosis of cobalamin deficiency is questioned and a new test using methylmalonic acid and homocysteine levels as markers is proposed.
