Yeheb (Cordeauxia edulis Hemsl.) is a woody legume native to the arid semi-deserts of Ethiopia's Somali regional state and Somalia. The present investigation was conducted to determine the proximate composition and macro minerals and microminerals of Yeheb (Cordeauxia edulis Hemsl.) nuts to ascertain the nutritive value of the nuts. Moisture content, total ash, crude protein, crude fiber, carbohydrate, crude fat and chemical compositions of the Yeheb nuts were determined. The Yeheb nuts was found to contain a noticeable quantity of proximate composition and both macro and micro-minerals. However, the protein content of Yeheb nuts were found in a range of that of most cereals and therefore it cannot be perceived as an alternative source of protein for the resource-poor pastoralists households. A varying content of proximate and chemical composition of Yeheb nuts enforce designing better conservation strategies of the endangered species and subsequently be used in the food value chain across the country and beyond.
