During four years (1971-1974), five sour cherry cultivars were examined for the pollen viability, germination and pollen tube growth. Pollen which was taken from the earliest and the last blooming stages had the smaller viability, germination and the shorter pollen tube then the pollen from the flowers at full bloom. Substancial differences of the pollen characters between cultivars and the years of investigations were found.
