Effects of supplemental magnesium in diets of laying hens on egg production and egg quality parameters
1989
Stilborn, H.L. | Hellwig, H.M. | Waldroup, P.W.
Magnesium oxide (38% Mg) was used to provide 0, 125, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 mg/kg supplemental Mg to layer rations based upon corn and soybean meal. Each diet was fed to 5 replicates of 5 individually caged hens, following a forced molt. Layer performance including rate of egg production, egg weight, Haugh units, yolk color, shell break force, feed conversion, and body weight gain was not influenced by the levels of supplementary Mg used in this study.
