malaria, survey with indirect immunofluorescent antibody test (IFAT) to compare area where transmission had been interrupted for over 30 years and area where transmission still occurs at low level, results confirm existing parasitological findings and reflect recent and past history of infection, IFAT is less sensitive to recent malaria infection in very young people in area of low endemicity than is number of reported slide-proven cases but as age and cumulative exposure increase the IFAT reflects period prevalence in adults of 20-40, antibodies may last over 30 years in some persons: Thailand
