Polyamide 66 for Deep Dyeing

This paper shows the differences in spinning, acid-dyeing, and light exposure behavior of various "deep-dyeing" poly hexamethylene adipamides as a result of minor differences in chemical structure due to polycondensation with excess hexamethylene diamine, use of phenylphosphorus compounds, or boron derivatives. The boron and phosphorus derivatives give higher melt viscosity than the regular and "excess-diamine" polyamide. The excess diamine and boron-based fibers have an acid dye uptake equivalent to their amine end-group content—twice the end-group content of regular polyamide. Phenylphosphorus fibers demonstrate a large degree of overdyeing—nearty twice their amino end-group content. Only the phenylphosphorus fibers show decreased light stability, compared to regular polyamide.
