A Batch-Handling Technique for Hot-Water Extraction of Boron from Soils

A procedure was developed for the extrraction of boron by hot-water. The method was suitable for a large number of samples and a high degree of accuracy was obtained. The proposed procedure was compared with the reflux and Gupta's modified methods by using three soils of varying texture and organic matter. The reproducibility of the proposed method was found to be superior to that of the others. The apparatus should improve the sample handling efficiency for a variety of extraction procedures that require hot solvents.
