Lead-associated protein in kidney and brain
1986
A review of recent studies of lead (Pb) toxicity describes the finding of a Pb-induced synthesis of a protein in the kidney and the brain that complexes with Pb. The protein is a major component of intra-nuclear inclusion bodies in the kidney, and may protect against toxicity from Pb (and other heavy metals) in the brain via its Pb-complexing ability.(wz)
