Mental maps for effective community development

This essay invites community developers to integrate the use of a selected set of mental maps or conceptural frameworks as guides to more effective practice. Frameworks selected for this essay include: a systems approach to appreciating the interrelatedness of elements of the practice context; practice as drama; the need to develop reflective practitioners; values inherent in community development choices, decisions, and actions, the significance of language; and the need for multidisciplinary collaboration.
