School breakfast: Why the controversy?
1979
Arthur, Candace
School breakfast programs are discussed from the viewpoint of practical obstacles such as finances and schedules, philosophical opposition, and steps to be taken in starting programs. Solutions to seven obstacles are explained. Fears that school breakfasts weaken the family ignore the national trend to one parent households and working mothers. Feeling the word "needy" means "poor" bothers some, but programs are for any child who has not had breakfast. National and regional sources of help are listed.
