Fumonisin B1, B2, and B3 content of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois corn and corn screenings
1993
Murphy, P.A. | Rice, L.G. | Ross, P.F.
Fumonisin B1, B2, and B3 contents of corn from the 1988-1991 crop years and corn screenings from 1989 were assayed. FB1 ranged from 0 to 14.9, from 0 to 37.9, from 0 to 19.1, and from 0 to 15.8 ppm in corn from 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991, respectively. FB2 and FB3 averaged 0.7 and 0.2, 0.8 and 0.2, 0.9 and 0.3, and 0.8 and 0.4 ppm from 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991 crop years, respectively. There were statistically significant linear regression correlation coefficients between FB1 content and FB2 and FB3 contents in all crop years. Corn screening contain about 10 times higher fumonisin contents than intact corn. There was no size-related segregation of fumonisin contents in corn screenings.
