The Growth and Yield of Corn. III. Soil Moisture and Temperature Effects
1965
Benoit, G. R. | Hatfield, A. L. | Ragland, J. L.
SynopsisFinal yields decreased with late plantings independent of the soil moisture level. This phenomenon is shown to be associated with decreased temperatures during the ear-formation stage for late-planted corn. Yields of irrigated corn were higher in 1962 than 1963; however, the reverse was true for unirrigated corn yields. These response differences are related to soil moisture-temperature interactions and their effect on plant moisture stress.
