Investigations carried out on virulence of Fusarium moniliforme on different genotypes of basmati rice and rice revealed that Basmati cultivars namely Pusa Basmati 1121, Punjab Basmati 2, Basmati 370 and Basmati 386 are highly susceptible recording the foot rot incidence as 48.00, 39.00, 24.00 and 22.00 per cent respectively. Super Basmati was moderately susceptible where as Punjab Mehak and Pusa Basmati No. 1 were resistant showing the incidence of disease as 0.00 and 2.50 per cent respectively. Only one cultivar of rice namely PR 120 has shown susceptibility and rest of the rice cultivars were highly resistant. Out of nine fungicides evaluated under in vitro conditions for their efficacy against F. moniliforme Bavistin 50 WP, Raxil 2 DS, Nativo 80 FS and Lustre 37.5 EC were found to be the most promising fungicides. In field conditions, seed treatment + seedling dip with Bavistin 50 WP @ 0.2 per cent was found to be the most effective treatment in reducing the disease.
