To market, to market or how to shop your supermarket for the best buys in nutrition
1979
Lansky, Vicki
The most healthful way to shop in a supermarket is to shop only the periphery of the store. The dairy products, meat, produce, frozen foods, and bakery are usually located in the outer aisles. Consumers should avoid buying products with high sugar or salt content. Guidelines for purchasing produce, peanut butter, canned foods, bread, and dairy products with the highest nutritive value are presented. Some preparation tips and serving suggestions are offered. Limited consumption of hot dogs is recommended; the average hot dog is 29 percent fat by weight.
