A histochemical and immunohistochemical study of proteoglycans in normal and osteochondrotic joint cartilage of swine
1995
Nakano, T. | Aherne, F.X.
Proteoglycans were studied histochemically and immunohistochemically in normal and osteochondrotic cartilage of swine. The results showed reduced intensities of proteoglycan staining with cationic dyes in osteochondrotic necrotic cartilage. Staining intensities with monoclonal antibodies specific to chondroitin sulfate, keratan sulfate and decorin varied among joints. These results do not support recent reports demonstrating high staining intensity of proteoglycan in necrotic cartilage.
