The skin of a frigatebird (most probablyFregata magnificens) killed in the border zone between Hesse and Lower Saxony found its way into the Royal Academic Museum in Göttingen, but was apparently destroyed there sometime before 1878. According to Bechstein (1793), the record occurred in January 1792, whilst a publication by Grandidier (1787) reveals evidence of an earlier date.
