Coalition calls for calories on alcoholic beverages
1983
A public interest group's efforts to get the federal government to require caloric information on alcoholic beverages are described. So far the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms only requires "light" beers, wines and other alcoholic beverages to be labeled. This can be misleading because some "light" beers contain more calories than regular beer. A number of groups are joining in the petition effort. The caloric values of some light beers are given.
