Extract: This paper demonstrates how pooled time-series and cross-sectional data can be used to estimate the parameters of a Midwest corn acreage response function. The use of pooled data reduces the number of time-series observations lessens the effect of technology, and likely will eliminate the need to attempt to quantify it, as well as greatly reduce the possibility that the acreage response coefficients will change during the period under study.
