Extract: Domestic transportation rates play an important role in te distribution of grain and are periodically used in an attempt to develop markets. A multimarket spatial equilibrium model was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of using alterations in rail rates to stimulate export market development of hard red spring wheat shipments to the Pacific Northwest export ports. The effects of changes in ocean rate spreads and increased demand in the Asian market were also evaluated.
