Oral contraceptives and vitamin requirements
1977
Aftergood, Lilia
The effect of oral contraceptives on several vitamins and some resultant disorders are reported. The effects will be potentiated if pregnancy follows closely after discontinuing these drugs. The specific vitamins mentioned are folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K and tryptophan pyridoxine niacin riboflavin. A generally varied and nutritionally sound diet is preferred over vitamin supplementation for women taking oral contraceptives. In cases of suspected borderline deficiency, a low potency vitamin supplement might be of value.
