Extract: In this article, we examine corn and soybean yields on the Allerton Trust Farms over the last 28 years (1950-1977). The Allerton Trust Farms are located in Piatt County, Illinois. They were deeded to the University of Illinois in 1946. These farms are not experimental, but are managed to produce maximum income to support the operation and maintenance of the Robert H. Allerton Park and Conference Center. During the 28-year period, the annual acreage of corn was approximately 1000 acres and that of soybeans about 800 acres. Accurate yield and precipitation data are available on these farms.
