An insecticidal sesquiterpene polyol ester, angulatin A, was isolated from the root bark of Celastrus angulatus. Its structure was established as 1 alpha,2 alpha-diacetoxy-8 beta,15-diisobutyryloxy-9 alpha-benzoyloxy-4 beta,6 beta-dihydroxydihydro-beta-agarofuran by spectroscopic methods.
