Food and nutrition in the Netherlands
1975
Hartog, C. den
The Dutch diet is over-rich in calories and saturated fat, yet, the Netherlands has a lower rate of infantile obesity than the USA. Food pattern trends are undefined in the various population groups. To better understand food consumption patterns among members of individual families an intensive investigation was conducted on a number of foodstuffs (milk, butter, margarine), yet little attention has been given to the place and significance of these products in the diet as a whole. It is felt there should be regular attempts to determine the correlation between nutrition and health, and the part education plays. An extensive bibliography is included. (kbc)
