A Dental diet is a healthy diet
1983
White, Maurice J.
A brief commentary describes dental caries, its causes, and its prevention in children via dietary considerations and dental hygiene. Bacteria in plaque convert sugars to acids and produce toxins that attack teeth and gums. Hence, without plaque, there can be no attack. A simple technique is described for assisting children in the detection of plaque, and guidelines and instructional aids are cited to teachers for educating children in proper dental hygiene and caries prevention. Dietary aspects are considered for improving plaque prevention by enhancing the fibrous content of food consumed. (wz)
