2013
Hosseini, S.A. | Tahmoorespur, M.
The aim of this study was to estimate of genetic parameters of body weight at 12 weeks of age (BW12), egg number (EN) during the first 12 weeks of laying period, age at sexual maturity (ASM) and egg weight at first week (EW1) in the west Iranian native chickens. The data from first generation (G1) to generation 11 (G11) used for this study was belonging to Breeding Center for Azerbaijani Native Chicken and included 26103 Iranian native hens. The SAS and WOMBAT software was used for data analysis. The heritabilities, genetic and phenotypic correlations and overall genetic trend were estimated. The result obtained from this study indicated that there might be improvement in all economic traits over generation in west Iranian native chickens which might be attributed to the rigorous selection applied for increased egg number and other economic traits.
