Moisture Determination in Textiles by Electrical Meters: Part III
1949
Whitwell, John C. | Toner, Richard K.
This paper, the third in a series on determining moisture in textile materials by electrical meters, describes tests made on the Moisture Register. The meter tested was designed for wool and when properly used gave results with a precision of ± 0.35% moisture, which approaches closely the precision of oven measurement. When used on materials for which it was not intended—namely, cotton sliver and acetate staple—the results were appreciably less precise. In common with other meters tested, measurements are sensitive to temperature changes and the presence of impurities.
