Long live the professional chef
1977
At the International Culinary Competition in West Germany, the U.S. won 28 gold medals, 2 silver medals and various special awards. In overall competition, the American team placed third. Photographs show the American chefs at work, European merchandising ideas for fresh fruits and vegetables, judges tasting the entrees, and four American entrees: Chicken and Shrimp "Creole," Sirloin Steak "Star of Texas," Baby Salmon in Crust "Heritage," and Roast Duckling "Pennsylvania Dutch." Culinary competitions, particularly at the international level, enhance the role of the chef in American society.
