Effects of amino acids on the oviposition of the smaller brown planthopper, laodelphax striatellus (hemiptera, delphacidae)
1977
MITSUHASHI, J. | KOYAMA, K.
Five amino acids, arginine, glutamic acid, lysine, tyrosine and valine were found to inhibit the oviposition of the smaller brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus, while cystine was stimulative for the oviposition. When the roots of rice seedlings were soaked in the solution of one of these amino acids, the free amino acid in the seedlings corresponding to that in the solution increased in quantity, and consequently the number of eggs laid on the seedlings decreased markedly compared with that on the non-treated seedlings.
