Selenium Accumulation in a Collection of Atriplex Species
1972
Davis, A. M.
Stone native American Atriplex species are known Se accumulators. This study was undertaken to determine the Se accumulation characteristics of some non-North American species. Twenty-three accessions, including 15 species from 8 countries, were grown in Se-enriched soil in the greenhouse and the Se content of the aboveground portions was determined by AOAC methods. Atriplex canescens James accessions were higher in total Se (160 ppm plus) than the other species tested. All accessions accumulated Se at potentially toxic levels from the enriched soil.
