Studies on wilt of senna and In vitro evaluation of fungicides and bioagents against Fusarium oxisporum

The laboratory studies were conducted for isolation, identification, pathogenicity, symptomatology, morphological, cultural characters and efficacy of seven fungicides and three bioagents against Fusarium oxysporum isolated from the wilted Senna plants. Pathogenicity was proved on both seeds and seedlings of Senna plants, showing yellowing, drooping of the leaves, stem below the soil and tap root of the plant showed blackening of tissue from outside as well as vascular bundles, when roots were split opened and black discolouration also observed in xylem tissues of stem. The mycelium of fungus was hyaline, septate, cottony and pinkish white in colour, macroconidia were hyaline, scattered, either slightly pointed or rounded ends, with size 35.78 x 3.24 μm having 4–5 septa. microconidia are oval, cylindrical and straight generally variable in shape, with size 11.8 x 2.12 μm having 0–1 septa The fungus grew and sporulate best on PDA and Czapek's agar media. Among the seven fungicides, Mancozeb, Carbendazim and Propiconazole completely (100%) inhibited the growth of pathogen whereas, in case of biocontrol agents Trichoderma viride (80.%) is most effective antagonist as compare to T harzianum (77.78%) and T koningii (64.45%).
