Citrus flavonoids have a broad spectrum of biological activity including anticarcinogenic and antitumor activities. Quercetin inhibits carcinogenesis in a number of models and is able to selectively inhibit a variety of tumor cell growth. Polymethoxylated flavonoids, such as tangeretin and nobiletin, are more potent inhibitors of tumor cell growth than hydroxylated flavonoids. They also possess potent anti-invasive and anti-metastatic activities. In this chapter the biological activity of citrus flavonoids is briefly overviewed. Emphasis is on their anticarcinogenic and antitumor activities.
