Extract: The general purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of Tennessee farmers growing vegetables under contract and the effect of contracting on the managerial decisions and risk bearing of the growers. the specific objectives of this study were: 1) to determine the socio economic characteristics of contracting vegetable growers; 2) to determine the level of processor participation in the grower's entrepreneurial activities as perceived by both parties; and 3) to identify areas of misunderstanding or dissatisfaction between growers and processors.
