Payment of milk according to protein content in the Netherlands

The current method for determination of milk protein content for payment and milk-recording purposes is briefly outlined. The method is calibrated on 6.38 X Kjeldahl N. Change to a system based on true protein would be of little advantage in obtaining more precise results and is considered to cause an unfair disadvantage to the dairy industry, especially to producers of milk protein concentrates.
