Septicemia caused by Streptococcus canis in a human
1997
Bert, F. | Lambert-Zechovsky, N.
We describe a case of septicemia due to Streptococcus canes in a 77-year-old man. The organism was presumably transmitted from a domestic animal. Ulcers of the lower limbs were the likely portals of entry. The differentiation between Streptococcus canis and Streptococcus dysgalactiae was based on biochemical properties and DNA macrorestriction analysis by pulsed field gel electrophoresis.
