Substantiation of managerial decisions for minimizing the risk of groundwater contamination at the sites of solid municipal waste disposal

A new approach to estimating the processes developing at the sites of solid municipal waste (SMW) disposal is suggested based on the present-day ideas about organic matter transformation in a waste body during the entire life cycle of a landfill. The choice of managerial decisions for the reclamation of SMW areas and for reducing the risk of groundwater contamination is substantiated. The decisions made depend on the prediction assessment of SMW environmental impact.
