Lipids of human liver mitochondria
1979
Biopsies of liver tissues from patients awaiting surgery for ulcers, cholecystitis or gallstones were studied for the composition and properties of lipids from human liver mitochondria. Human liver mitochondria had twice the lipid content as that of rat liver mitochondria. The proportions of different lipid classes were the same in both types of mitochondria. Linoleate was much higher and arachidonate much lower in phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine of human liver mitochondria compared to rat liver mitochondria.
