Cyanidin 3-Oxalylglucoside in Orchids

A new acylated anthocyanin has been isolated from flowers of Nigritella and Orchis and identified as cyanidin 3-O-β-(6”-O-oxalyl)-glucoside on the basis of TLC , HPLC , FABMS, ¹H and ¹³C NMR . This pigment was found to be present in various members of the Orchidaceae.
