A technical review addresses changes in the body skeleton, body segments, tissue components at adolescence, and growth patterns with preadolescence age, and summarizes and discusses changes in nutrient requirements, dietary habits, and the effects of under- and over-nutrition at adolescence. Emphasis is placed on the patterns of normal growth, normal variations in growth, recommended daily energy and nutrient intakes in adolescent age groups, and dietary variations during adolescence. The effects of dietary intake changes on growth and pubertal development also are discussed.(wz)
