Fixed nitrogen is cheap enough and abundant enough to justify its use as an aid toward a more prosperous agriculture. Since, as has already been noted, there is practically no limit to the quantity of fixed nitrogen that may be produced for agricultural uses, we should very seriously consider national and international inquiries in the domain of soil and plant science as a first step toward building more rational crop production programs.
