The structure of '6'-prenylpiscerythrone', a diprenylated isoflavone from Piscidia erythrina, has been unambiguously revised using chemical and spectroscopic methods to 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-5'-methoxy-2',6'-di-(3,3-dimethylallyl)iso flavone (erythbigenin). A further investigation of the root bark components of P. erythrina has also revealed the presence of three isoflavones with 5,7,3',4',5'-pentaoxygenation. These compounds have been identified as 5,7,3',5'-tetrahydroxy-4'-methoxyisoflavone (junipegenin A), 5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3',5'-dimethoxyisoflavone (piscigenin) and 5,7,4',5'-tetrahydroxy-3'-methoxy-2'-(3,3-dimethylallyl)isoflavon e (erythgenin).
