Practice of self-induced vomiting among high school females
1984
Carter, Jo A. | Duncan, Pamela A.
Self-induced vomiting to control body weight is a common eating disorder among female adolescents. Of 38 high school females who were practicing self-induced vomiting, 9% used this practice every time food was ingested while 40% vomited only after binge-eating. Data tables present information relating to bulimia, mean scores on the Eating Attitude Scale, and the Four General Health Subscales. Disturbed attitudes toward eating were present in 58% of the subjects, and 55% of the students indicated some degree of psychopathology. (emc)
