3D Scanner-Based Corn Seed Modeling

Corn seed simulation modeling plays an important role in increasing the efficiency of corn production. Current research on corn seed modeling focuses on the development of 3D particle modeling methods. For efficient and precise modeling, on more corn seeds, in this article, a 3D scanner is introduced in the modeling method. Specifically, a combination of manual eight-sphere filling and automated spherical particle filling based on 3D scanner data is employed to build a long-range, simple 228-corn-seed discrete element analysis model. When compared with existing modeling methods, this model exhibits significantly improved precision and efficiency. In addition, simulation and analysis are performed on a typical agricultural corn facility (seed-metering device) to verify the feasibility of the proposed modeling method.
